Organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), the “Língua Franca - 2^nd Annual Arts Exhibition between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries” is currently held at No. 55-57, Avenida do Coronel Mesquita (Green Townhouses) and the Former Municipal Cattle Stable. The outreach activities “InstaMeet” and “Pechakucha” will be held on 24 and 27 November. All interested parties are welcome to participate.

The mega international art event “Art Macao” brings a series of splendid and diverse cross-platform artistic activities to the city, attracting many art aficionados and tourists from around the world. The giant “Fruit Tree” created by South Korean artist Choi Jeong-Hwa, dubbed the Father of South Korean Pop Art Installations, was erected at the Art Plaza of the Macao Cultural Centre. As one of the highlighted mega outdoor installations of Art Macao, it is an impressive artwork which should not be missed.

The mega cultural event “Art Macao” brings an immersive cultural atmosphere with the entire city as an art gallery and art garden, triggering an upsurge of visitors for art appreciation. It drew over 16 million participants in 41 activities at 55 locations in six months. The brand effect of “Art Macao” has continued to increase in the international and neighbouring regions, bringing a new urban experience and exploring a new path for the city’s cultural tourism development.

This exhibition is one of the series activities of “Art Macao” and of the “2^nd Encounter in Macao – Arts and Cultural Festival between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries”, showcasing the diverse manifestations and development of contemporary art in China and Portuguese-speaking countries, and offering a new experience of Chinese and Portuguese visual arts to residents and tourists.

“Art Macao”, a mega international arts and cultural event, held the “Artists’ Talk” today (28 August) at the Vista, MGM COTAI, exploring how to promote Chinese culture in contemporary forms on the international stage, and bringing Macao art to the world. The Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Alexis Tam Chon Weng; the President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Mok Ian Ian; the Deputy Director of the Macao Government Tourism Office, Cheng Wai Tong; and several guest speakers held a discussion with the youth and had a lively exchange.

On the occasion of the mega international arts and cultural event “Art Macao”, the MSAR Government invited members of the consular corps accredited in Hong Kong and Macao to participate in a visit organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, to an art exhibition integrated in the “Art Macao” event, on 20 August. The visit aimed to promote the concept of “A Cultural Macao” and to raise the reputation of this new iconic brand of cultural tourism at regional and international level, thus exploring more opportunities for future collaboration.

The event “Art Macao” continues to offer the public multiple artistic experiences with a festive atmosphere throughout the city. In addition to organizing art exhibitions and outdoor large-scale installations in all different corners of Macao, this summer will bring even more brilliant concerts and performances, including the 2019-20 season opening concerts of the Macao Orchestra and the Macao Chinese Orchestra, as well as the Haojiang Moonlight Night – Dance Drama “Thangka”, showcasing different forms of art that should not be missed by art aficionados.

Under the patronage of the Secretariat for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government, “Art Macao”, a mega international arts and cultural event, is organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Macao Government Tourism Office and co-organized by the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau, the Higher Education Bureau, Galaxy Entertainment Group, Melco Resorts & Entertainment Limited, MGM, Sands China Ltd., Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, S.A. (SJM), Wynn Macau, Limited, Nam Kwong (Group) Company Limited and several foreign consulates, presenting various kinds of art and cultural activities including a number of timeless large-scale exhibitions of contemporary Chinese art, which showcase different art forms and have high ornamental value.

In addition to bringing a visual aesthetic experience all over the city, “Art Macao” also features a number of splendid performances this summer. In late July, the Macao Orchestra and the Macao Chinese Orchestra will present wonderful concerts. The Chinese music fully demonstrates the glamour of history with passionate melody and the classical music showcases a romantic time with symphony and piano concerto.

“Art Macao” was inaugurated on 6 June at the Art Plaza of the Macao Cultural Centre, together with the opening of “Art Macao: International Art Exhibition”, the main exhibition at the Macao Museum of Art on the same day, starting an arts festival of unprecedented scale.

The “Art Macao” mega event brings an immersive cultural atmosphere to the entire city, transforming it in an art gallery and an art garden. Various foreign consulates organize unique art exhibitions in Macao from June onwards. Several large-scale outdoor art installations by foreign and local artists will also be displayed at various landmarks of the city, allowing art aficionados to feel the artistic ambience in all corners of the city.

The press conference and signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement of “Art Macao” was held on 28 May at the Grand Ballroom of the Grand Lisboa Hotel.

“Art Macao” enhances the entire city with an artistic atmosphere, facilitating international cultural exchange and cooperation and promoting local artistic development; in which the visual arts play as the main axis, spreading an artistic atmosphere to all corners of the city.
