Nasceu em Tianjin em 1961, vivendo e trabalhando agora em Pequim, servindo como presidente, professor, e conselheiro doutorado na School of Chinese Painting, Central Academy of Fine Arts. Exposições a solo: Vernacular: Liu Qinghe (Art Museum of Beijing Fine Art Academy, 2014); Liu Qinghe – Into Ashes (United Art Museum, Wuhan, 2018); Treading Waves – Liu Qinghe Exposição a Solon (Hong Kong Art Gallery Association, 2019); Participou em: INK. Zeitgenössische Tuschemalerei aus China (Kunsthalle Göppingen, Alemanha, 2018); The Revival of Tradition: Another Approach to Contemporary Chinese Art (Song Art Museum, Pequim, 2020).

Foi galardoado Artista do Ano – Ink Painting, The Eighth Award of Art China (AAC); Prémio para Artista do Ano, Shanghai Securities News Award; e Ink Artista do Ano, L’Officiel Art. Os seus trabalhos foram reunidos no Shanghai Art Museum e Guangdong Museum of Art.
