The work “Come to Light” of Moataz Nasr presents the Sufi architecture and its influence in the Mediterranean area. The cube is to be seen as the body of a person, the octagon as the soul, and the semi-sphere as the infinite, that can be reached through a process of purification of the soul. In the Mediterranean area, the shape of the octagon was also associated to purification, for instance in architectures like the baptistery. This work presents the 7 colours of the rainbow, seen by the artist as the various paths that can be taken to reach purification.
