Created in 2018, the work “Make-up” was first displayed on his solo exhibition Liu Qinghe – Into Ashes in United Art Museum in Wuhan. In the six-meter-high, 400-square-meter exhibition hall, the debut of power and arrogance under the dim light forces nobodies on the edge to huddle in the corner while other figures perches in their self-righteous positions. The combination of giant figures floating on the wall and rigid elements such as iron wire, brick, and stone generates a suffocating and harsh reality.
