“Partage de Midi” takes Paul Claudel as the thread. Paul Claudel, a France diplomat, as well as famous playwright, essayist and poet, was the little brother of the well-known “Rodin’s Lover” sculptor Camille Claudel. In 1895, young Paul came to China and started his career as a diplomat. In 1896, Claudel came to Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian for the first time to serve as consular (Fuzhou was one of the five treaty ports of the late Qing Dynasty). Since 2006, based on research on the relation between images and words, Lin Linfeng has discussed the regeneration of images and the power of words. The series work of this exhibition, “Partage de Midi” takes the name of Paul’s play. The artist presented multi visions of different characters by recreating a historical episode of Fuzhou in the late Qing Dynasty.
