John Dewey (1859-1952) proposes that art is an experience and there is a continuity between the refined experience of works of art and everyday activities and events, which makes “art into life” a natural incident and “art enriches urban experience” a matter of course. In addition, by aesthetic education, art is the key to transforming society, inheriting human civilization and promoting the perfection of human nature.
What is going to be presented to the citizens and the tourists, the “Art Macao: International Art Exhibition”, is one of the ways to promote the experience of a unique city!
Under the patronage of the Secretariat for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government, “Art Macao: International Art Exhibition” is a mega international arts and cultural event organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Macao Government Tourism Office, and Galaxy Entertainment Group, Melco Resorts & Entertainment Limited, MGM, Sands China Ltd., Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, S.A., Wynn Macau, Limited, Nam Kwong (Group) Company Limited and foreign consulates in Hong Kong and Macao are invited to host art exhibitions concurrently. The exhibition aims at creating a world-class exchange platform in Macao’s history by bringing together the works of local, mainland and overseas modern and contemporary artists, such as sculpture, painting, video and installation, allowing participants to enjoy the artworks.
With the theme of “diversity”, the exhibition demonstrates the reality of social culture and artistic creation through crossover cooperation, presenting the richness of styles and forms, connecting different cultures, expanding the artistic vision of the public, building a creative atmosphere, and displaying the inclusivity and generosity of Macao’s cultural connotation.
“Art Macao: International Art Exhibition” will kick off at the main exhibition venue – Macao Museum of Art; while exhibitions will also be held at other important venues such as the Macao Contemporary Art Center - Navy Yard No. 1, Old Court Building, Tap Seac Gallery, Exhibitions Gallery of the Taipa Houses, Former Municipal Cattle Stable (Ox Warehouse) and hotels and integrated resorts. In addition, art installations will also be displayed in outdoor public places, including the Mount Fortress Garden, Anim’Arte NAM VAN, Praça Jorge Álvares Square, Taipa Houses and Art Plaza of the Macao Cultural Centre, making Macao a city full of artistic atmosphere.
From June to October this year, Macao will be imbued with artistic vitality and creativity. An immersive cultural atmosphere will be brought to Macao with the entire city as an art gallery and as art gardens. Let's enjoy an unforgettable artistic summer!
