Born in Lisbon in 1971. Lives and works in Berlin. Studied Visual Arts at the Universidade do Porto, in Oporto, at the Universidade de Lisboa, in Lisbon, and at the Ar.Co School, also in Lisbon. Has exhibited regularly since the mid-1990s. Of special note among his solo shows are “It’s Not Romantic to Be Romantic” (Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin, 2003), “Loneliness Comes From One” (Galeria Pedro Oliveira, Oporto, 2004), “Rui Calçada Bastos” (Arte Contempo, Lisbon, 2005), “Pequeños problemas” (Círculo de Bellas Artes, Madrid, 2006) and “Walk About” (Invaliden 1, Berlin, 2006).
