Just as when we experience the tension and confusion between subjectivity and objectivity in Macao, the simultaneous connections and disconnections in the world have become our new shared reality. When delving into personal histories in public discussions, the space of shared experience becomes unstable, and we can ultimately only address the most urgent issues of our own. This project brings together seven female artists sharing a foreign educational background who work with different artistic media, connecting their respective works that explore self-expression in daily life as women and re-examining the areas in which we think about the subjective life, reflections on the fluidity of our body/identity, hopes for getting closer to home, the limited creative conditions for housewives, and the more autonomous handling of certain losses of self. In this exhibition, their shared female identity and experiences serve more as a “background”, which in itself does not define the existence and composition of each of “her”, and it is the works from which we can express ourselves.
