MGM proudly presents the large-scale art installation exhibition (Valkyrie Miss Dior) by renowned contemporary Portuguese artist Joana Vasconcelos. The artwork is being presented to public for the first time after its exclusive appearance at international fashion shows in Paris and Shenzhen.
Valkyrie Miss Dior, Artwork produced in collaboration with Dior Paris, is a large-scale art installation created with textiles, composed of vibrant fabrics, floral mottled fabrics, and patterns. The art piece uses textiles, lace, embroidery, and crochet, among other handicraft techniques. It embodies Joana' key creative practice: reshaping and sublimating crafts and materials traditionally seen as "feminine".
Born in Paris in 1971, Joana Vasconcelos is the first and youngest female artist to be invited to hold a solo exhibition at the Palace of Versailles in France. She is famous for her large-scale installations and sculptures.
MGM’s collaboration with Joana on world cultural exchange program started in 2015, created installation Art Valkyrie Octopus especially for MGM MACAU, its Joana’s largest piece of Valkyrie series to date, With Year 2024 marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the China and Portugal, Valkyrie Octopus will start sailing off from Macao for Joana’s solo exhibition in Lisbon.
