Glocalization (2021)
Ink on paper
120 x 180 cm

In response to the ravaging pandemic, countries around the world have taken measures including closure, lockdown and quarantine. The trend of deglobalization is evident in fields from politics, economy, science, technology, culture to education. The modern ink wash painting Glocalization is an artistic interpretation of the new international rules while everything, the world, countries, communities, and families, is ruthlessly quarantined and even separated, the surging ink, as a symbol of human beings, is striving to break the artificial barriers. By virtue of the framework of western abstract geometry, this work aims to enrich the language of ink wash painting, driving the art form towards being abstract and post-modern, and at the same time to explore the associated and interactive connections among the media of water and ink, the international politics and the peoples life. The surging touches of ink, with an explosive force and formidable momentum, meet one another, presenting the vitality and tensility of life and the misty chaos of the universe. The audience, while trying to interpret these spaces of fantasy, will understand the aesthetic ideal that transcends times and spaces.
